The view from here

A long hall staircase
with large open ceilings, dusty windows, and a small bedroom underneath,
hidden from plain view, but easily accessible and well known
by the inhabitants of the house.

It is quiet inside.
Not silent, but weepy quiet,
with small lists and lulls, signs from time to time of something underneath,
beneath, maybe even behind it all.
The dusty magic is reminiscent of an older moment,
not ancient, but special, tinder, neat, close,
safe.
Even familiar.
